Kim Sanders, MPH, MBA, Director
Kim Sanders has a Masters in Public Health, as well as a Masters in Business Administration; over 17 years professional experience in various health-related fields including 5 years in project and fiscal oversight of programs, grants and cooperative agreements; 5 years in research, need assessments and program evaluation; and 12 years in mental health service provision. As an employee of SIUC for over eight years, she has also been involved in entrepreneurship promotion, economic and health-related research, workforce development issues, and community connectivity strategies. Additionally, Ms. Sanders has presented and co-presented at numerous regional, state and national conferences in the areas of rural health research, development, and collaborative projects.
Kathy Doan, Program Administrative Assistant
Kathy is the assistant to the Director. She supervises other CRHSSD clerical staff and is responsible for managing budgets and personnel paperwork.
Heather M. Hartung, MPH, Education Coordinator
Heather has worked in rural health for five years at the local, state, and national levels. Heather’s interest areas include access to care, training development, quality improvement, and the social determinants of health. Heather received her Bachelor’s degree in School and Community Health Education from Winona State University (Minnesota) and completed a Master’s in Public Health from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale.
Darla Lowe, Office Administrator
Darla coordinates all CRHSSD advisory board and executive committee meetings and correspondence. She provides clerical support for the CRHSSD staff and supervises student employees.
Dennis Presley, MPA, Project Coordinator of the Rural Medical Transportation Network (RMTN)
As the Project Coordinator of the RMTN, Dennis administrates and supervises all aspects of this project and coordinates the activities of the Network with other community partners. A two-time graduate of SIUC, Dennis received his Master of Public Administration Degree in 2002. Previously, Dennis served as the Economic Development Coordinator and as a Regional Planner for the Southeastern Illinois Regional Planning and Development Commission in Harrisburg. Most recently, he served as the Grant Coordinator for Southern Illinois Healthcare, based in Carbondale. In addition to his career in community and economic development, Dennis has served as a law enforcement officer for more than 22 years, on both a part-time and full-time basis.
Dan Shannon, MS, Field Representative
Mr. Shannon has many years experience in teaching, research, and service in the areas of health and injury control. He has been published many times in refereed journals. Mr. Shannon’s specialties are in health and safety issues, including occupant protection, drinking and driving programs, curriculum writing, program evaluation, and community based needs assessments. |

Katherine Accettura, MS, Graphic Designer and Marketing
Katherine graduated from SIUC with an M.S. in Professional Media Management. She received her B.F.A. in Communication Design and now helps the CRHSSD with Marketing and Promotional Designs.
Jordan Hicks, Student Employee
Adam Lach, Project Assistant Adam is an SIUC graduate and currently the Program Assistant for the Illinois Delta project. Adam's primary duties include field research for the CATCH and Caring Connections components of the Delta program. He is also responsible for data entry and assisting in generating reports for the funding agencies on the grant.

Shinji Ogita, MA, Graduate Assistant
Shinji is a master's student in Kinesiology. He has a Bachelor's degree in dietetics. At the CRHSSD, he assists with research and SOFIT data collection.
